Twelve-Year Trend: Steady Applicant Numbers, Rising Admitted GPA

Over the twelve years, the number of UC applicants from this school changed little. In fall 2014, 115 students applied to UC and 78 were admitted; in fall 2025, 118 applied and 104 were admitted, and the lowest year in between was 2022, with 76 applicants. The clear change was in grades: the average applicant GPA rose from 3.60 to 3.90, and the average admitted GPA rose from 3.76 to 3.93.
The most popular campuses moved in different directions. Viewed in three-year totals, the UC Berkeley admission rate for Fairmont Preparatory Academy students was 10% from 2016 to 2018 (195 applications, 20 admissions) and rose to 16% from 2023 to 2025 (226 applications, 37 admissions). Over the same period, UCLA fell from 11% to 9%, UC San Diego from 28% to 22%, and UC Irvine from 30% to 29%, while the UC systemwide admission rate rose from 74% to 81%. During the same period, three-year applicants fell from 361 to 304, and admissions shifted among campuses: UC Berkeley rose from 20 to 37, the largest increase of any campus, while UC Santa Cruz, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UC San Diego fell from 107, 97, 93, and 77 to 77, 80, 78, and 60, respectively.
