Dual Credit Courses and Small Samples: Two Things to Know Before Reading These Data
Dual Credit Courses: Most Are UC-Certified Honors Courses, but Grade 12 Courses Do Not Count
Dual credit courses at Pacifica Christian High School are the school’s honors courses for which a partner university also awards credit: humanities and math courses are offered in partnership with Colorado Christian University, and engineering courses with the University of Texas at Austin, open to grades 10 to 12. The school adds 1.0 for dual credit courses, the same as for AP courses, and 0.5 for other honors courses.
UC calculates differently. UC counts only grade 10 and grade 11 A-G courses and adds points only for UC-approved honors courses, 1 point per course per semester, up to a total of 8 points across grades 10 and 11, with no more than 4 points in grade 10. According to the UC 2026-27 A-G list, 10 of the 12 dual credit courses offered in 2026-27 correspond to UC-certified honors courses. Honors Civics and Honors Foundations of Entrepreneurship are not on the UC A-G list, and the grade 11 course Honors European Ethics & Politics has a different title from Honors European History on the UC list, so families should confirm with the school whether they are the same course. Dual credit courses taken in grade 12, such as Honors Calculus and Honors U.S. History, do not enter the UC GPA calculation.
Small Samples: A Dozen or So Students a Year, with Large Single-Year Swings
