The 2026-27 Curriculum Guide of Orange Lutheran High School is organized by subject in the school’s online documents. For each course it gives the course number, grade levels, credits, UC and NCAA approval, whether the course is offered on campus or online, and prerequisites. This page uses the official University of California (UC) A-G course list as its base, adds the grade levels and prerequisites from the school’s guide course by course, and includes the theology courses, dual credit courses, and school honors courses that fall outside the A-G list. First, an overview of the UC list.
UC A-G refers to the 7 subject areas that the University of California and California State University require high school students to complete: a, history and social science; b, English; c, mathematics; d, laboratory science; e, language other than English; f, visual and performing arts; and g, college-preparatory elective.

Graduation Requirements (27 Credits)
The school counts a year-long course as 1 credit and a one-semester course as 0.5 credit. The requirements below come from the graduation requirements table in the 2026-27 Curriculum Guide and the Academic Profile 2024-2025.

A full-year course is 1 credit and a one-semester course is 0.5 credit; 27 credits are required to graduate. Physical Education and Health total 2 credits: 1.5 credits of physical education and 0.5 credit of health (taken online). Social studies must include World History, U.S. History, and U.S. Government/Economics; science must include Biology and Chemistry. Graduation also requires a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and no outstanding F in a required course.
The graduation requirements and the UC admission requirements are two separate standards. The table below places them side by side; the UC column comes from the University of California admissions website.

EDUBUS recommends building the schedule to the UC recommended level rather than to the school’s graduation level: 4 full years of mathematics and 3 years each of science and world language. The school has one theology course every year, and students in grades 9 through 11 must take at least 7 credits per year, so theology permanently occupies one course slot; this needs to be part of the plan from grade 9. Full tuition covers only 9 credits per year, and each additional half credit costs $515.
Theology and UC A-G
The theology department's course description states that some colleges may accept theology courses as electives, but they are not UC-approved g electives. A course-by-course check of the UC 2026-27 A-G list shows that none of the school's theology courses appear on it: Introduction to God's Word, New Testament, Old Testament, the two Grade 12 theology courses, and Missions: Vocation are all absent. The school's academic notes also point out that UC and CSU compute GPA using only core academic courses from Grades 10 and 11, so theology courses are not included.
Four-year theology sequence

Course Selection Rules
This section answers four questions: how the schedule works, how many courses students take each year, when course selection happens, and whether schedules can change after school starts.

Four-Year Pathways by Subject
In the pathways below, Honors refers to honors sections, AP refers to Advanced Placement courses, and regular refers to standard college-preparatory courses without either designation.
English
- Grade 9: Introduction to Literature/Composition or Honors Introduction to Literature/Composition, determined by the freshman placement test
- Grade 10: British Literature/Composition, on-campus AP Seminar: British Literature, or online Honors British Literature
- Grade 11: American Literature/Composition or AP English Literature and Composition
- Grade 12: World Literature, Writing Experience, Honors Writing Experience, AP English Language and Composition, or AP English Literature
The advanced English sequence has one distinctive feature: there is no on-campus Honors English in grade 10, and the advanced option is AP Seminar: British Literature, with Honors British Literature available online. AP Seminar requires 85% or higher each semester in Honors Introduction to Literature and Composition, or 90% or higher in the regular course with teacher approval. Every English course requires a research paper, and a student who does not complete it fails the course for that semester.
Science
- Grade 9: Biology 1 or Honors Biology, determined by the freshman placement test; a small-class modified version, Biology A, is also offered
- Grade 10: Principles of Chemistry, Chemistry, or Honors Chemistry; Honors Chemistry requires Biology at 85% or Honors Biology at 80% or higher, with concurrent enrollment in Honors Geometry or higher math
- Grade 11: Anatomy & Physiology or Honors Anatomy & Physiology, Physics 1 or AP Physics 1, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, Marine Biology, Honors Engineering, Honors Molecular Genetics, and others
- Grade 12: science courses not taken in Grade 11, or AP Physics C (requires concurrent AP Calculus); graduation requires only two years, Biology and Chemistry
Computer courses are housed in the science department: Computer Science may be taken from Grade 9; AP Computer Science Principles may be taken from Grade 9, although on-campus sections give priority to Grade 12; Honors Computer Programming and Honors Engineering may be taken from Grade 10; AP Computer Science A is offered online only and is classified by UC as c (mathematics). AP Biology and AP Chemistry each require a concurrent 0.5-credit lab, and these labs do not count toward the 9 credits included in full tuition. Honors Cybersecurity is offered in alternating years and is not offered in 2026-27.
Social science
- Grade 9: social studies is not required; freshmen placed in honors English may take AP Human Geography
- Grade 10: World History or AP Modern World History; the latter requires Grade 9 AP Human Geography or two semesters of honors English at 80% or higher
- Grade 11: U.S. History or AP United States History; AP Psychology, Honors Sociology, and other courses are optional
- Grade 12: U.S. Government/Economics, or the full-year AP U.S. Government & Honors Economics; AP Macroeconomics is also offered online
The social science AP sequence begins in grade 9: AP Human Geography in grade 9, AP World History: Modern in grade 10, AP United States History in grade 11, and AP US Government with Honors Economics in grade 12. A grade of 80% or higher in both semesters of one course is the main condition for entering the next; moving from regular World History or United States History into AP United States History or AP US Government requires 90% or higher. Honors Sociology is a UC-approved category g honors course.
World Languages
- Spanish Levels 1 through 3 are offered both on campus and online; Level 4 has a regular online section and an honors on-campus section; AP Spanish is not offered
- French Levels 1 through 3 are offered both on campus and online; Level 4 is offered only as an on-campus honors course; AP French is not offered
- Latin Levels 1 and 2 are offered on campus only; Level 3 is an honors course, and Grade 12 students may take AP Latin
- Chinese Levels 1 through 4 are offered online only, starting with pinyin; AP Chinese is not offered
New and transfer students who wish to enter French 2 or Spanish 2 directly must pass a placement exam; entering Latin 2 directly requires passing a placement exam and a grammar test. UC A-G requires two years of the same language and recommends three; the school’s graduation requirement is also 2 years of the same language. On the UC list, Honors French 4 and Honors Spanish 4 are UC-approved honors courses, while Honors Latin 3 is registered as the regular course Latin 3.

The map is organized by subject. Each course shows its level, grade levels, prerequisites, and UC A-G category; a “—” in the UC A-G column means the course is not on the UC 2026-27 list. The notes column gives the course number, whether the course is offered on campus or online, and whether UC weights it, so families can compare it line by line with the school’s course request form. A total of 14 courses on the UC list do not appear in the 2026-27 Curriculum Guide; their notes say to confirm with the school whether a section will be offered.
