Two Catch-Up Windows
Students who do not enter the accelerated pathway in grade 8 have two more chances in high school. Both require an A in both semesters of the math course; an A- does not qualify.
Window 1: After Math I in grade 9

- Also meet one of the following: a teacher evaluation, or a score of 85% or higher on the End-of-Course exam (EOC), so that two of three conditions are met

Computer Science and Data Pathway
- AP Computer Science Principles: grades 10-12, no prerequisite; one of the four AP courses available in grade 10

- Honors Computer Science B: Data Structures: grades 11-12; requires completion of AP Computer Science A or a score of 3 or higher on that exam; weighted
- Biotechnology (Irvine Valley College BIOT 70/70L/173): a dual-credit course held on campus in the evening
AP Computer Science Principles has no prerequisite and is one of the four AP courses available in grade 10, which makes it a suitable introduction to programming. AP Computer Science A uses Java, requires an A in Math III or a B in the second semester of Enhanced Math II, and is offered only in grades 11 through 12. Students who complete AP Computer Science A can continue to the weighted Honors Computer Science B: Data Structures. The school has no separate data science course; statistics is covered by AP Statistics.
