Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) states on its admission pages that Early Action and Early Decision I are both due November 1, with financial aid documents due November 15; Early Decision I decisions are anticipated on December 5 and Early Action decisions on December 19. Irvine 12th graders considering this university in Cleveland, Ohio have less than two weeks.

Who Is Affected by the Case Western Early Deadlines

The deadlines affect high school seniors applying through the Common Application or Coalition with Scoir. The dates for each round are:

Round Application Financial aid documents Anticipated decision Enrollment deadline
Early Action November 1 November 15 December 19 May 1, 2027
Early Decision I November 1 November 15 December 5 December 12
Pre-Professional Scholars Program December 1 December 15 January 30, 2027 May 1
Early Decision II January 15, 2027 January 22 February 6 One week after admission
Regular Decision January 15, 2027 February 1 March 20 May 1

Early Action is not binding; Early Decision is a contract between the student and the university, and an admitted student withdraws all other applications and enrolls.

What to Do Now About the Case Western Early Deadlines

Assemble the materials. CWRU requires the official high school transcript, the school report, a counselor recommendation, two teacher recommendations, and a $75 application fee (fee waivers are available). Test scores are optional; the Early Decision Agreement must be signed by the student, the counselor, and a parent or guardian. Music applicants also submit an Arts Supplement through the applicant portal within 15 days after the application deadline.

Check high school coursework. CWRU requires at least 4 years of English, 3 years of math, 3 years of science (2 of them laboratory science), 3 years of social studies, and 2 years of foreign language before graduation; students interested in engineering or the sciences are advised to add a year of math and laboratory science.

Submit financial aid documents on time. U.S. citizens and permanent residents applying for need-based aid submit the FAFSA and the CSS Profile. Within two weeks of applying, CWRU sends an email to set up the applicant portal, where students can check for missing materials.

Early rounds and college lists are covered by the EDUBUS college admissions planning service, and pre-submission checks in Common App Before Early Deadlines: Five Checks.
