Dates and format

Each day includes ballet, pointe or allegro, partnering or modern, afternoon workshops and discussions with Juilliard students and faculty, and rehearsals of new choreography shown to family and friends on the final day. Dancers may live in the residence hall next to the school, supervised by live-in staff.

About Juilliard SDI

How to Apply to Juilliard SDI

  • The video audition has five parts, and the ballet and modern combinations must be learned from Juilliard's demonstration video, which is available only after starting the online application. Open an application account before November to leave time to learn and record.
  • The recommendation must come from the primary ballet teacher and cover dedication, technique and performance. The application is due December 15 and the recommendation can follow by January 5, so confirm timing with the teacher early.
  • Applicants need at least three years of ballet and modern or contemporary training and must currently train 10 or more hours a week. A dancer trained mainly in ballet should add modern classes before applying.
