Williams College has posted its first-year deadlines: Early Decision closes on November 15 with decisions by December 14, and Regular Decision closes on January 4 with decisions by April 1. Irvine seniors have 20 days until the Early Decision deadline, and the financial aid application is due on the same day as the admission application.
Who Is Affected by the Williams Early Decision Deadline
The deadline applies to high school seniors applying to Williams College this cycle, especially students who consider Williams their first choice. The two rounds are as follows:
| Round | Admission application deadline | Financial aid deadline | Decision by | Reply deadline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Early Decision | November 15 | November 15 | December 14 | January 4 |
| Regular Decision | January 4 | January 4 | April 1 | May 1 |
Early Decision is binding: admitted students are expected to accept the offer and withdraw their applications to other schools. Williams College states that a student may ask to be released from the binding commitment only when the financial aid package does not make attendance possible, which is rare. The college offers only need-based aid and no merit scholarships, practices need-blind admission for domestic applicants and meets 100% of every student’s demonstrated need.
What to Do Now About the Williams Early Decision Deadline
Prepare the required materials. Williams College accepts the Common App, Coalition with Scoir and QuestBridge. The file includes the school transcript and mid-year report, recommendations from the school counselor and two teachers, the $65 application fee or a fee waiver and, for Early Decision applicants, the Early Decision Agreement Form. The college does not conduct interviews.
Decide whether to submit test scores. Williams College is test-optional; a question on the application asks whether the student will apply test-optional, and the student may change that choice until the deadline. Students who submit must send the full set of SAT or ACT scores rather than individual sections; the college superscores both tests and accepts SAT Score Choice.
Prepare financial aid materials at the same time. The Early Decision financial aid application is due on November 15 along with the admission application, so families seeking aid should complete the CSS Profile early; see the EDUBUS brief CSS Profile Opens: File in November for Early Rounds.
For Early Decision strategy, college lists and round planning, see the EDUBUS university admissions planning service and the four types of early application; for essays, see the college essay bootcamp.
