Pitzer College states on its admission pages that Early Decision I for fall 2027 entry is due November 15, with decisions released by December 18. The college is in Claremont, California, and is a member of The Claremont Colleges. Irvine 12th graders have 24 days left, and applicants submit a Pitzer Writing Supplement of up to 650 words in addition to the Common Application personal essay.

Who Is Affected by the Pitzer Early Decision Deadline

The deadline affects high school seniors applying to Pitzer College for fall 2027 entry; international applicants follow the same dates:

Round Application deadline Optional interview deadline Decision Enrollment deposit
Early Decision I November 15 November 15 By December 18 January 15
Early Decision II January 10 December 18 By February 15 March 1
Regular Decision January 10 December 18 By April 1 May 1

Both Early Decision rounds are binding: an admitted student must withdraw other applications and may not apply Early Decision to another institution at the same time. Pitzer College is test-free for the 2026-27 application cycle and does not accept SAT or ACT scores; it plans to return to a test-optional policy beginning with the 2027-28 cycle. AP scores are also not considered in admission decisions.

What to Do About the Pitzer Writing Supplement Now

Choose one prompt. The supplement offers two options. The first asks how the applicant has engaged with one of Pitzer’s five core values (social responsibility, intercultural understanding, interdisciplinary learning, student engagement, and environmental sustainability) through high school or community involvement. The second asks what the applicant is looking for in a college experience and why Pitzer would be a good fit. Both prompts call for specific experiences.

Revise within Pitzer’s AI policy. Pitzer College states that the final essay should be written by the applicant. AI may serve as an editing tool for checking grammar or clarifying ideas, but applicants should not use AI-generated text in the application; the college encourages applicants to seek feedback from teachers and peers who know them.

Prepare the remaining materials. The application fee is $70, and fee waivers are available. Applicants need at least one recommendation from a core academic teacher in 11th or 12th grade, a school report, and official transcripts, and the mid-year report with first-semester 12th grade grades follows later.
