Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles has posted its fall 2027 deadlines: Early Decision I (ED I) and Early Action (EA) both close on November 1, leaving Irvine seniors 10 days. Students admitted through ED I receive an additional $5,000 LMU scholarship on top of any other LMU scholarships or grants.

Who Is Affected by the LMU Early Application Deadlines

The deadlines apply to high school seniors applying to LMU for fall 2027. The four rounds are as follows:

Round Application deadline FAFSA deadline Decision released Deposit due
Early Decision I November 1 November 1 Mid-December January 11
Early Action November 1 January 10 Mid-December May 1
Early Decision II January 8 January 10 Mid-February March 15
Regular Decision January 15 February 1 Early March May 1

Both Early Decision rounds are binding; Early Action and Regular Decision are not. All four rounds are eligible for scholarships, and LMU states that early applicants receive priority consideration for merit scholarships. ED I admits also receive priority housing selection, priority first-term registration, and priority consideration for programs with limited space.

What to Do Now About the LMU Early Application Deadlines

Prepare materials from the checklist. Students may apply through the Common App, the LMU Application, or the Coalition Application. The application fee is $75, and fee waivers can be requested by email. Grades may be self-reported in the application or submitted as an unofficial transcript. SAT and ACT scores are optional, and not submitting them does not affect review or scholarship eligibility. At least one letter of recommendation from a school official is required, and LMU recommends one from a teacher and one from the counselor.

ED I families should note the same-day FAFSA deadline. The ED I FAFSA deadline is November 1, the same day as the application deadline and more than two months earlier than the Early Action FAFSA deadline.

Students applying to arts majors should check portfolio requirements first. Animation, Film and Television Production, Theatre Arts, Dance, Music, and Studio Arts may require a portfolio or audition. For Production, early applicants should upload the portfolio by November 1, or as soon as the application status page instructions arrive, and it consists of a portfolio list and one film or video sample of no more than 3 minutes. Portfolios can be uploaded only after the application is submitted.

Help with choosing an application round is available through the EDUBUS University Admissions Planning service and the guide to four types of early application, and personal statement support is available through the College Essay Bootcamp.
