The Georgetown University admissions website shows that Early Action closes November 1, with the application, writing supplement, and supporting credentials all due that day. Georgetown assigns alumni interviews only after the first part of the application is submitted, so Irvine seniors planning to apply early should submit that part soon.

Who Is Affected by Georgetown Early Action

Seniors planning to apply to Georgetown University. The website lists the following timeline:

Item Early Action Regular Decision
Application, writing supplement, and supporting credentials due November 1 January 1
Admission decisions By December 15 By April 1
Financial aid application due February 1 February 1
Reply date for admitted students May 1 May 1

Georgetown Early Action is non-binding, and admitted students can choose among their options until May 1. Early Action applicants to Georgetown may not apply to any binding Early Decision program, but they may apply to other non-binding Early Action programs.

Students can apply through Georgetown’s own Georgetown Application or through the Common Application. Georgetown requires two short essays and two long essays. It does not require the Common App personal statement and instead asks a Georgetown-specific personal statement question. Georgetown requires SAT or ACT scores and requires official scores sent by the testing agency: SAT and AP scores through the College Board (code 5244) and ACT scores through the ACT website (code 0668).

What to Do Now About Georgetown Early Action

Submit the first part early to allow time for the interview. Alumni interviews begin each September. Students using the Georgetown Application can be assigned an interview after submitting Part 1, and students using the Common Application can be assigned one after submitting Georgetown’s initial portion (not including the writing supplement). The writing supplement can follow before the deadline.

Leave time for official score reports. Georgetown requires official score reports; delivery timing is covered in Early Deadlines: Will SAT/ACT Scores Arrive in Time?.

Check the combination of early applications. A binding Early Decision application cannot be submitted alongside Georgetown Early Action. The differences between early plans are explained in Early Decision vs. Early Action: Which Are Binding.
