Chapman University, located in the city of Orange in Orange County, states on its admission pages that Early Action and Early Decision I applications for fall 2027 entry are both due November 1, 2026, and that students seeking need-based aid must also submit the FAFSA and CSS Profile by November 15. Chapman and Irvine are both in Orange County, and Irvine 12th graders planning to apply early have two weeks to complete their materials.

Who Is Affected by the Chapman Early Application Deadline

Twelfth graders applying to Chapman University for fall 2027 through the Common App.

Round Deadline Decision Binding
Early Action November 1 Mid-December for most programs No
Early Decision I November 1 Mid-December Yes
Early Decision II January 15, 2027 Early to mid-February Yes
Regular Decision January 15, 2027 Mid-March No

The Early Decision commitment applies only to the first-choice major: a student admitted to the first-choice major must enroll, while a student admitted only to the second-choice major is not bound. Chapman states that a student admitted Early Decision who cannot afford to attend can be released from the agreement. Early Decision applicants may also apply Early Action elsewhere but must withdraw those applications if admitted. Early Action decisions for Film and Television Production are released in mid-February, and decisions for College of Performing Arts programs are released from late December through mid-March.

What to Do Now About the Chapman Early Application Deadline

Complete five items. These are the Common App and Chapman’s short Panther Profile questions, at least one teacher recommendation (Chapman reviews up to two), the transcript and School Report submitted by the counselor, and the $70 application fee (waivers available for eligible students). Early Decision applicants also submit the Early Decision Agreement through the Common App, verified by a parent or guardian and the high school.

Applicants to creative talent majors submit a Creative Supplement. Majors in the College of Performing Arts, the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, and the Department of Art (excluding Art History) require a Creative Supplement, which can be submitted only after the Common App. Chapman recommends that these applicants apply by November 1.

Decide on test scores. Most programs are test optional. Students may self-report SAT or ACT scores in the Common App and send official scores after admission and an enrollment deposit; Chapman superscores across sittings. Early applicants who want to change their test-optional status must submit the request through the Application Status Page before November 30.

Use AI with care. Chapman states that AI tools may support an essay but should not write it.

College lists and application rounds are covered by the EDUBUS college admissions planning service. The checks to complete before submitting are in Common App Before Early Deadlines: Five Checks.
